JCTEF Transformation Program Cohort 1: Beginning the Journey With Self-Discovery

In August 2026, JCTEF began the first cohort of its Transformation Program, a three-month development journey with 60 Fellows, designed to help participants grow in self-awareness, wellbeing, digital literacy, workforce readiness, financial literacy, marketable skills and economic productivity.

The journey officially began with an orientation on 15 August 2026, where Fellows were introduced to the programme, its structure, expectations and the journey ahead.

A week later, on 22 August 2026, the Cohort 1 journey moved into its first major development stage: Self-Discovery and Identity.

Starting With the Individual

Transformation begins with understanding the person who is being transformed.

The Self-Discovery and Identity session created an opportunity for Fellows to pause and reflect on important questions about who they are, what they value, the strengths they carry and the potential they may not yet have fully recognised.

Rather than beginning with a rush toward skills or opportunities, the session encouraged Fellows to first look inward.

Values, Strengths and Potential

The discussion explored areas including:

  • Personal values
  • Strengths and potential
  • Identity
  • Self-awareness
  • Personal responsibility
  • Areas for growth

One of the key questions explored during the session was:

Where does responsibility begin?

For us, personal development is not simply about acquiring knowledge. It also involves developing the awareness to understand ourselves, recognising our areas for growth, and taking responsibility for what we can change and develop.

Potential Must Be Developed

At JCTEF, we believe that:

“Potential alone is not enough. Potential must be discovered, developed, disciplined, and directed.”

This belief is central to the structure of the Transformation Program.

The programme does not begin by asking only, “What skill should you learn?”

It begins with the individual.

As Fellows progress through the programme, they will explore mental and emotional wellbeing, relationship capital, digital and foundational literacy, workforce readiness, financial literacy, marketable skills and pathways toward economic placement.

Each stage is designed to build on the previous one.

The Journey Ahead

The August sessions marked the beginning of a longer journey for JCTEF Transformation Program Cohort 1.

For the Fellows, this is an opportunity to learn, reflect, practise, receive feedback and gradually translate personal development into practical growth.

For JCTEF, it is part of a broader commitment to human capital development and transformation — helping people develop their capacity, connect with opportunities and move toward greater productivity.

The journey has begun.

Transformation precedes empowerment.
